Giuliana Rancic Leaving 'E! News,' Will Continue Red Carpet Coverage

Giuliana Rancic is leaving "E! News."

On Wednesday, the on-air personality announced that she will no longer be a daily host on the "E! News" program. She is exiting her post Aug. 10, but will continue to cover fashion for "Live From the Red Carpet" and "Fashion Police."

"For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of 'E! News' and will miss my family at the show," Rancic said in a statement. "At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show 'Rich in Faith' for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level."

The move comes after Rancic faced a flood of backlash for racist comments about actress Zendaya's dreadlocks -- quipping: "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil ... or weed" -- during an episode of "Fashion Police" after the Oscars in February. Co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin wound up quitting after the incident. Rancic apologized on-air for her comments and claimed she received death threats after the controversy.

The New York Daily News reported Rancic will be based out of Chicago instead of Los Angeles, and will be replaced by Maria Menounos for the time being.

The 40-year-old University of Maryland graduate became an "E! News" anchor in 2005.
