The Moment Charlamagne Tha God Stopped Defending Bill Cosby

Charlamagne Tha God is no longer defending Bill Cosby, the Power 105.1 host told HuffPost Live on Friday.

In an interview with host Marc Lamont Hill, Charlamagne explained that the release of Bill Cobsy's 2005 deposition, in which the comedian admitted to giving quaaludes to young women he wanted to have sex with, officially changed his stance on the allegations against Cosby.

"[The deposition is] what made me be like, 'I can't defend it no more,'" he said.

Up until the deposition's release at the beginning of July, Charlamagne said he had dismissed the numerous allegations against Cosby.

"I was one of those people that was like, 'Nah, Dr. Huxtable wouldn't do that. Nah, those girls are just trying to get money.' And when you read the deposition, I'm like, if he did that to one girl, he probably did that to 40," he said.

Charlamagne also explained why some people continue to defend the comedian through the steady stream of sexual assault allegations.

"Because 'The Cosby Show' was amazing, and so was 'A Different World' and so was 'Fat Albert.' … We grew up loving Bill Cosby. We grew up loving Dr. Huxtable," he said. "We don't want to believe that about our heroes. We didn't want to believe it about Michael [Jackson] either. And we still don't know about Michael."
