Hillary Clinton: Mike Huckabee’s 'Inflammatory Rhetoric' Steps Over The Line

Clinton said she was personally offended by Huckabee's Holocaust comparison.

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton lashed out at Mike Huckabee on Monday, calling the former Arkansas governor’s comparison of the Iranian nuclear deal to the Holocaust offensive and unacceptable.

In a radio interview over the weekend, the GOP presidential contender said President Barack Obama’s actions “will take Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

“I’m disappointed, really offended personally,” Clinton told reporters following a tour of the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Central Station. “I find this kind of inflammatory rhetoric totally unacceptable.”

Clinton went on to explain that she knows Huckabee personally and had a "cordial relationship" with him when he served as the governor of Arkansas. Clinton, of course, once served as the state's first lady.

“One can disagree with the particular statement to put a lid on the nuclear weapons program of Iran, that is fair game,” Clinton said. “This steps over the line.”

In addition to rolling out her plans for renewable energy during her three-day swing through Iowa, Clinton emphasized her support for the Iran deal, making reference to her role in the negotiations.

“I support the president’s agreement with Iran,” Clinton said. “I helped negotiate the original sanctions that got us on that pathway, and the key to it will be enforcement.”

Clinton slammed Huckabee’s comments, saying they have “no place in the political dialogue.”

“It should be repudiated by every person of good faith and concern of the necessity to keep our political dialogue on the facts and within suitable boundaries,” she said.

UPDATE: 7:27 p.m. -- Huckabee responded to Clinton's comments Monday evening, saying Clinton needed to wake up:
Hillary Clinton came out of hiding today to attack my comments on Iran, calling them unacceptable, but what's truly unacceptable is a mushroom cloud over Israel. How many times will Iran's leaders call for Israel's annihilation before Hillary wakes up to this existential threat? How many murdered Israelis will it take for Hillary to express as much outrage at Iran as she did at my defense of Israel? The policy of my administration will be "never again" and when the phone rings at 3 A.M. I won't tell the American people "what difference does it make?" I will stand with Israel against Iranian evil."
