Kanye Tosses Mic, Storms Off Stage Following Technical Glitch

If there's one thing we know to be true about Kanye West, it's that he'll let us know when he's angry.

In the middle of his headlining performance at Toronto's Pan Am Games on Sunday night, the hip-hop artist chucked his microphone in the air and stormed off stage after the sound cut out, according to video recorded by audience members.

It appears the malfunction only affected sound at the event, as video of the live broadcast on Canada's CBC Olympics channel had full audio of the music and West's voice when he abruptly ended his performance of "Good Life."

West called it quits only 10 minutes into his performance, according to SB Nation

In a tweet, CBC Olympics confirmed that the sound malfunction was a "technical error."

The stunt is nothing new from the self-professed "greatest living rock star on the planet." In 2013, he stormed off stage in Tampa, Florida after taking issue with the lighting, the laser show, an LED screen and the sound of his mic. In 2004, he walked out of the American Music Awards after losing the Best New Artist award to country singer Gretchen Wilson.

His Pan Am performance was already shrouded in controversy, the Independent noted. More than 20,000 people signed a petition asking the sporting event to remove him as a headliner and replace him with a local artist.

"It would only be just to ask a proud Torontonian (or even a Canadian for that matter) in the music industry to perform, such as Drake, Walk Off The Earth, Feist, Metric, Shania Twain, deadmau5, Crystal Castles, Zeds Dead, The Weeknd, Peaches, K'naan, and many many more!" the petition reads. "The options for Toronto artists are far from limited and choosing someone like Kanye West raises several concerns among the people."
