Watch 6 Americans Try To Dance Bachata For The First Time

Once you bachata, you just can’t stop-ah.

Bachata isn’t for the faint at heart. Take it from six Americans who got a crash course on the Dominican dance style in the latest installment of Buzzfeed’s ever-popular “Americans Try” series.

In the video, released Saturday, dance instructor Daniella Dutton walked three pairs of bachata newbies through the basics. She taught them how to swing their hips, kick their legs and use their obliques in ways they’ve never used them before. Though a few of the participants were initially intimidated by all the “bumpin’ and grindin’” thought to be associated with the dance, others embraced the sexy dance style with open arms.

In the end, everyone seemed to get into the swing of things and a few of the couples even became bona fide bachata converts -- not that we’re surprised. You know what they say: Once you bachata, you just can’t stop-ah.
