Bobby Jindal Gives Bernie Sanders Some Credit

It's not as nice as it sounds.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said people should give Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) some credit.

It wasn't exactly a compliment. Jindal, a GOP presidential hopeful, made the comment while slamming President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the Voters First Presidential Forum in New Hampshire.

"This president's trying to turn the American dream into the European nightmare. He's trying to make us more dependent on government," Jindal said when asked how he would unite Americans as president. "Give Bernie Sanders credit -- at least he's honest enough to call himself a socialist. Hillary Clinton, President Obama -- they're no better. They're just not honest enough to call themselves socialists."

Jindal said if he were president, there'd be "no more hyphenated Americans, no more divisions."

Almost all of the GOP presidential candidates took part in the forum, which comes ahead of the first Republican primary debate on Thursday.
