Woman Gets Several Job Offers After Handing Out Resumes On The Side Of The Road

"I hope I'm inspiring other people to not just sit down and take what's coming to you, but actually go after what you want."

Armed with a cardboard sign, a stack of resumes and a can-do attitude, 28-year-old Carrie Kemeling stood by a busy exit ramp off a highway in Buffalo, New York, this week with just one goal in mind: She was there to get herself a new job.

According to Buffalo News, Kemeling recently quit her job as a sales rep at a local jewelry store. She was looking for a better opportunity, she said, and now wants to find a company that will invest in her.

In an effort to be proactive about her job search, Kemeling came up with an out-of-the-box plan. "I wanted to do something different; instead of just emailing a piece of my work history or dropping my resume off on somebody’s desk," she told Buffalo News.

That’s what led her to stand by an exit ramp of the I-190 during rush hour last Friday and again this week, bearing a sign with the words: "Not Homeless but Hungry for Success!! Take a Resume."

"I'm just trying to get my word out to as many people as possible to show my creativity and innovation, and you know hopefully, I can find something that will make me happy," she told WIVB News 4.

It seems that Kemeling’s plan has been working.

According to WKBW.com, Kemeling has already handed out about 100 resumes, and has had “plenty of interest.”

By Monday, Kemeling said she had received more than 13 job offers, and at least one interview.

"I hope I'm inspiring other people to not just sit down and take what's coming to you, but actually go after what you want or what you believe you deserve," she told WKBW.
