Michael Kelly Says It Would Be 'Too Easy' For Frank Underwood To Beat Trump

The "House of Cards" actor calls Trump's supporters "so scary."

In his Emmy-nominated role as chief of staff Doug Stamper in Netflix's "House of Cards," actor Michael Kelly will stop at nothing to serve his boss, President Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey). So how would the calculating Stamper handle the current crop of presidential contenders?

When HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked Kelly during a Tuesday interview about what strategy Stamper and Underwood might use to vanquish Donald Trump, the actor said it wouldn't be a challenge.

"Honestly, I think it would be too easy," Kelly said. "I think everyone is just waiting. Donald Trump -- I don't think he's going to be around toward the end of this whole thing."

Kelly, who counts himself as a Hillary Clinton supporter, added that he doesn't see Trump as fit for the Oval Office.

"For anyone to be able to do anything in our country, [his campaign] is a great example of that. But is he really fit to run the country? I don't think so," he said.

And what about the legions of Trump supporters who think the real estate mogul is ready to lead? "That's so scary, man," Kelly said.
