Mom Says She Pulled Gun On Teens Threatening Her Son

Police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

A Missouri woman has admitted she pulled a gun on two teens, but insists she did so because she feared for her family's safety.

"Did I intend to use the gun? Absolutely not,” Tracey Leeser told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “But I felt that was my only safeguard against being killed that night."

St. Charles County Police are still trying to figure out exactly what sparked last Wednesday's confrontation, which was captured on video and has gone viral.

Tracy and her husband, Don Leeser, said their family had encountered the teens in the video, Tyrelle and Terrence Ware, earlier in the day when Don broke up a fight outside his house between two girls, who are friends with the Wares.

Don said that later that night he got a text message from his 15-year-old son, Brett, saying he was about to be attacked by a group of teens at a local park. The Leesers drove to the park with guns and a bat and what followed is shown in the expletive-laced video in which Tracy and the Wares get in each other's faces. Then Tracy pulls a gun.

St. Charles County Police spokeswoman Val Joyner told The Huffington Post in an email that her department is still trying to establish what happened.

"We have received conflicting statements from multiple people regarding this case. We're not exactly sure how it started," Joyner said. "What we do know is that a disagreement spilled into Fleet Park with a group of teenagers and adults who had an intense verbal altercation that was captured on video."

The department is still investigating, and no charges have been filed, Joyner said.
