If you like to play fantasy retirement roulette -- the daydreaming game where you imagine living abroad in retirement -- you might want to know this: The best place is Switzerland.
According to the GlobalAgeWatch Index 2015, which measures the social and economic well-being of older people across the globe, Switzerland ranks as the No. 1 country in the world to live for people who are 60 and over. The report included 96 countries that represent 91 percent of the world's older population.
Norway and Sweden came in second and third, respectively. The U.S. squeaked into the top 10, coming in at No. 9, according to the report. The factors being ranked were: older adults' income security, health status, capability (which included employment and educational status) and enabling environment (which included people's physical safety, civic freedoms and access to public transportation). The scores were calculated from a number of international data sources, including the World Bank, the World Health Organization and the International Labor Organization.

Switzerland maintains policies and programs that promote older adults' health and enable them to get around more easily. Afghanistan, which came in last, has few services that promote the health and safety of older people, the authors wrote.
