Definitive Proof That Beauty Comes In Many Forms

Instagirls, dog lovers and nail maids, oh my!

Beauty is far from one size fits all. A new video from Vice's fashion culture site, i-D, has got some wonderful proof.

A-Z of Beauty Together is the latest in its A-Z series, which highlights the many subcultures around the world within the realm of beauty. Pageant queens, riot girls and even health goths (skip to the 0:47 second mark) may take different approaches to their routines, but their appreciation for creating a unique look is one and the same.

Jillian Mercado, a model with muscular dystrophy who was recently signed to IMG, appears in the video alongside an eclectically wonderful cast of characters. Bunny Kinney, Head of i-D, told Fast Company these models were picked to "spotlight the authentic subcultures behind some of today's most recognizable looks."

So how exactly did they find enough groups to represent each letter of the alphabet? Kinney explained: "We looked to all corners of society for inspiration, and street cast brilliant subjects like Lolita girls who look like they're straight out of Harajuku, Voguers from the NYC ballroom scene, and even more niche groups like Health Goths, who wear head-to-toe black activewear," he said.

The videos message is pretty clear: there is no wrong way to be interested in beauty. As i-D captioned the video, "no matter who you are and what you look like, we all beauty together."
