Ted Cruz Gets Booed Over Gay Marriage Comments On 'The Late Show'

"Guys, however you feel, he's my guest, so please don't boo him," Colbert said.

"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert challenged Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on his gay marriage stance Monday evening after an exchange about former President Ronald Reagan's legacy and Republican ideals.

Colbert pointed out the ways in which Reagan wasn't that conservative -- raising taxes, having an amnesty program for undocumented immigrants -- while Cruz largely deflected. The conversation turned to Cruz's own political priorities, which he said included helping Americans to live within their means, and following the Constitution in legislating.

"And no gay marriage," Colbert added.

As Cruz attempted to defend his stance, saying the decision should be left up to the states, he was booed by the audience.

"Guys, however you feel, he's my guest, so please don't boo him," Colbert said.

Watch the exchange above. The conversation about gay marriage begins at the 3:00 mark.
