Mom Writes Heartbreaking Post One Year After Drunk Driver Killed Her Baby And Husband

Destiny Mantia is spreading an important message in the wake of tragedy.

On September 20, 2014, Destiny Mantia was in a drunk driving-related car accident that led to the deaths of her husband Corey and their 1-year-old son Parker.

On the one-year anniversary of the tragedy, the Missouri mom wrote a heartbreaking Facebook post about her loss and the dangers of drunk driving.

"The action of this one selfish person who thought they were 'ok' to drive instantly took the life of my sweet innocent 15-month-old son in the back seat," Mantia wrote. "She ended any dreams that we may have had together and caused pain I never knew existed."

The mom also issued an impassioned plea to others to not drink and drive. "This hurt, pain and our future could of all been prevented if someone would have stepped up and stopped this selfish woman from drinking and driving," she wrote. "You can save someone's life too! Don't allow your friends and family to drink and drive. Don't share DUI checkpoints. Be an advocate! Stand up with me! Let's stop this. One is too many. DONT DRINK AND DRIVE!"

Mantia's post has been shared over 41,000 times, and the comments section is flooded with over 4000 responses of support for the 22-year-old widow and the message she's spreading.

As the post travelled across the social media sphere, Mantia shared her gratitude. "Thank each and everyone of you," she wrote in a comment. "Together we will make a difference."
