Tim McGraw Sweetly Proposed To Faith Hill This Way 19 Years Ago

Happy anniversary to the adorable couple -- 19 years and counting! đź’‹

After nearly two decades of marriage and three children together, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are still going strong.

On October 6, the country stars celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, commemorating the occasion on social media.

McGraw posted a sentimental video about the couple's proposal story on his Facebook page, writing, "Happy anniversary to the best person I will ever know." In it, he talks about the day back in June 1996 when he popped the question to Hill in the dressing room between their performances at the Taste of Country Festival in Colorado.

According to McGraw:

It was rainy and stuff and we'd been on tour for a while together. I'd joked around with her about getting married. So I looked at her, I grabbed her by the hands before I went onstage. She had already done her show. And I said, "I'm really serious. I want you to marry me."

She laughed and she said, "We're at a country music festival in a trailer house, and you're asking me to marry you?" And I said, "Yeah." So I went onstage.

After the performance, McGraw got his answer. Hill had written, "Yes, I'm going to be your wife. I love you" in Sharpie on the portable mirror in his dressing room and sealed it with a lipstick kiss. And he still has that mirror to this day.

The couple got married several months later on October 6, 1996 in Rayville, Louisiana, not far from where McGraw grew up.

In the past, McGraw has been upfront about his struggles with drinking, and how it affected his marriage and their family. In 2009, he opened up to People about it, and how his wife has been there through the ups and downs.

"Faith saved my life in a lot of ways -- from myself more than anything," he said. "I can go down a dark road sometimes, when you're not feeling good about yourself, and she pulls me out. My wife makes me a better man."
