New York Martyr Ruben Tejada Receives Hero’s Piggyback Ride In Return

New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has become an important figure for New York baseball fans since Chase Utley's take-out slide fractured his fibula. While Utley, now public enemy No. 1 in New York, was booed heavily before Game 3, Tejada was given a standing ovation by the Citi Field faithful on Monday night.

But how did Tejada and his broken leg all make it through the clubhouse, up the dugout and onto the field? A piggyback ride from a teammate, of course.

Matt Reynolds did the honor of piggybacking New York's new marytr, who, at 25, probably hasn't gotten a piggyback ride in two decades. This dynamic duo would not be stopped.

Almost at the dugout steps ...

There we are! Sporting a walking boot and snazzy Mets cane, Tejada saluted the roaring crowd.

Ruben Tejada is the hero that the Mets needed.
