"Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told the House Republican conference Tuesday that he will enter the race for speaker of the House, but only if he wins support from all wings of the party. Despite his previous insistence that he wouldn't run, Ryan, the House Ways and Means Committee chairman, told members in a rare evening meeting that he would jump in if Republicans agree to his conditions." WHAT’S BREWING

"Sorry, Mr. President, Ahmed's taking his talents overseas. Ever since he was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school a month ago, Ahmed Mohamed has been on a world tour. He dropped out of MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas; visited the president of Sudan; traveled to Mecca; traded science tips with Dr. Oz; and on Monday visited President Barack Obama." WHAT'S WORKING

"In his 2009 book 'The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crisis,' Jeremy Rifkin posed one of the defining questions of our time: in a hyper-connected world, what is the goal of all that unprecedented technological connectivity? 'Seven billion individual connections,' he wrote, 'absent any overall unifying purpose, seem a colossal waste of human energy.' Now, I'm delighted that The WorldPost is featuring a new series by Rifkin exploring how the possibilities of an even more connected world can lead to solutions to one of our greatest crises: climate change." ON THE BLOG

"After years of trying to kill, then delay, and then defang the agency, the banking industry and their Republican friends in Congress have launched a new effort to attract Democratic support for their latest attack by claiming that they just want to help the agency and the consumers it protects. Surely Democrats will not be taken in by yet another attempt to weaken the CFPB." [HuffPost]
