CBS News is partnering with Twitter for the second Democratic primary debate in Des Moines, Iowa, on Nov. 14 -- the first time the social media platform will be officially involved in a debate.

“As the 2016 presidential election cycle begins to heat up, we’ve seen more and more voters across the country join the live presidential debate conversation on Twitter, which is why we're incredibly excited to be partnering with CBS News in Iowa,” Adam Sharp, head of news, government and elections at Twitter, said in a statement.

The social media site will provide CBS News with real-time data, reactions and voter questions during the November debate, which will be held at Drake University.

CBS News President David Rhodes said that the integration of Twitter would "inform" the network's coverage.

“Our people have worked with Twitter’s unique curator tools to measure changing responses to what viewers will see on the screen," Rhodes said in a statement.

CBS News also announced that its political director and "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson will moderate the November event, the first Democratic primary debate to fall within a year of the general election.

While this will be Twitter's first official involvement in a debate, Facebook partnered with cable networks for both the first Republican and Democratic primary debates this season.
