A West Virginia man is facing charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing after he allegedly entered two schools intending to sing Justin Bieber songs to the students.
D'laontie Dee Lewis was arrested twice on Tuesday. The first time occurred when he entered Dunbar Middle School during morning announcements, according to WSAZ.com.
Lewis told employees he wanted to sing Justin Bieber songs to students.
Principal Amon Gilliam said he suspected Lewis was suffering mental illness based on the suspect's erratic behavior.
“He was all over the place,” Gilliam told the West Virginia Gazette Mail.
The principal put the school on a precautionary lockdown while a police officer stationed at the school took Lewis into custody.
Gilliam told WOWK TV that someone had contacted the school a day earlier warning them that Lewis might enter the school.
In addition, court documents filed after his arrest said Lewis wasn't on his prescribed medications Tuesday, according to WCHS TV.
Despite the heads up, the suspect managed to get in the school by sneaking in behind a parent.
Lewis was given a citation for possession of marijuana and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, a Dunbar Police Dept. spokeswoman told The Huffington Post.
A short time later, Lewis walked out of the hospital and went to another school, Kiddie Kollege Daycare at First Church of the Nazarene in South Charleston, West Virginia.
Once again, he tried to sing Bieber songs to the children, but employees asked him multiple times to leave the property.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by WCHS TV, Lewis told employees he "wanted to speak to the children as Justin Bieber" and stated that "he could see them because he was Jesus."
Police responding to the scene removed Lewis, who allegedly yelled, cursed and made vulgar comments as he left the school.
Lewis was arrested again and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct, according to the New York Daily News.
A LinkedIn account for D'laontie Lewis states he is an admissions representative at the University of Charleston.
Hours after the arrest, Lewis' friends created a Facebook page, called Stand By D'laontie Lewis, to raise awareness of the possible issues behind the two incidents.
Members of the group believe Lewis should be in a mental facility, not a jail, according to WCHS TV.
Jail records do not list Lewis as a current inmate.
