When it's Halloween time, black cats could sure use a break. The association between dark felines and evil -- yes, we know it's bunk -- plays out in decorations and costumes with witches.
But cat advocate Chris Poole, owner of the viral cat duo Cole & Marmalade, is here to shed some light on the matter. He recently posted a history called "Why Are Black Cats Considered Bad Luck?"
As shown above, things really went to hell for black cats during the Middle Ages and were shooed along by a piece of folklore featuring a father and son whose path was crossed by a black cat on a "moonless night."
Listen up and then give those black kitties a little more love. We have centuries of superstition to make up for.
