When Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) announced he was running for president, his kids didn't express too much excitement -- not until he promised them they could get a dog if he won.

And even though he's dropped out of the race, the Jindal kids still intend to get their dog, and are even rehoming other pups in the process.

The eldest child of the Jindal clan, 13-year-old Selia, has joined a club at school that allows students to foster adoptable dogs while they look for permanent homes for them.

"This is a very good but clever program," Jindal said during a news conference on Wednesday. "These kids in these clubs bring home shelter dogs for several days and then they try to encourage the kids to place the dogs in other people's families."

Selia and her two younger brothers, Slade and Shaan, have already brought two dogs to the governor's mansion, and plan to bring a third next weekend.

So is dad ready to add a dog to the family? "I think you know how this story is going to end," said Jindal. "I think you know it's going to be very tough for dad to say no."

Well done, little Jindals! Charity work goes a long way, and if you get a puppy out of it, all the better.
