Tony Hawk Does First-Ever Vertical Spiral, Defying Age And Gravity

Just imagine what he'll be doing at age 80.

Tony Hawk is 47 years old. He has a wife, four children, 12 world championships, his own video game and a New York Times best-selling autobiography.

But he still knows how to shred.

For years, Hawk has wanted to try a "vertical spiral" -- a gravity-defying sideways loop never before accomplished on a skateboard.

"People keep asking me questions like, 'Well how do you approach [it]?'" Hawk said in a promotional video for Sony. "I don't know. I'm just going to find out the hard way."

And because he's a skateboarding, age-defying god, he did.

After some "guttural screams of pain, frustration and defeat," The Birdman delivered in epic fashion, making the impossible not just possible, but oh-so-smooth:
