Dreams Come True With Shelter Kitten And Macaron Delivery Service

"I don't know any better formula for instant happiness"

Kanchan Singh, owner of the first and only cat cafe in Washington, D.C., knows it's hard to improve on her basically perfect core business concept: giving animal lovers a venue where they can hang out with adoptable kitties, while also eating delicious baked goods.

And yet she's gone and done it. Right around the holidays, Crumbs & Whiskers will be bringing the cat cafe to you (if, you live in a specific D.C. neighborhood).

"This service allows you to order a basket of kittens and macarons to be delivered to your doorstep -- or someone you love's doorstep -- for Christmas," Singh told The Huffington Post. "Who doesn't want kittens to show up at their doorstep along with delicious macarons? I don't know any better formula for instant happiness. "

Crumbs

This magical service is called Crumbs & Whiskers Kitten Delivery (aka Our Dreams Coming True).

Singh already hosts kitten parties at the cafe, which make people (and kittens) extremely happy, but she heard from attendees they thought the affair could be even better in their own living rooms.

"So we thought, 'hey, let's make this happen for them,'" Singh said.

The macarons are baked up by Olivia Macaron in Georgetown. And the kittens will be provided by Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, which will also receive 15 percent of the kitten delivery proceeds.

Echo Keif, Lost Dog's cat program coordinator, assures HuffPost that this program has lots of measures in place to make sure it's a good experience for the animals as well as the people -- like background checks, careful supervision and keeping petting sessions short.

Being as these kittens are all up for adoption (though not on the spot), the bigger aim is to help folks fall in love with shelter pets -- and maybe make one of the kitties a permanent member of the household.

"We're hoping that it's going to get people excited about adopting," Keif told HuffPost.

Kitten and macaron deliveries will cost $99 for a 30 minute session.

Right now, we are sorry to report, the service will be available for one day only -- Dec. 20 -- and only for residents of D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood. Singh is hoping this first venture goes well, and will be expanded to more of D.C. around Valentine's Day.

And after that, we dare to dream, kittens and cookies for everyone?
