This is just a pretty awesome moment considering the emotional roller coaster the program has been on in the past number of weeks.

Missouri's football team has been in the national spotlight in the past month since it was first announced in that they would not play unless then university system president Tim Wolfe resigned from his post.

The football players and many others on Missouri's campus believed that Wolfe had not done enough to appropriately address ongoing racist incidents on campus -- one of them included a swastika made from human feces being smeared on a bathroom wall.

Gary Pinkel, the Missouri football head coach at the time, posted a tweet and photo with the team in solidarity with the protesting players.

Pinkel would resign as head coach a few days later for health-related reasons. Pinkel was diagnosed with lymphoma in May 2015.

Before becoming the head coach, Odom served as a defensive coordinator for Missouri. He has been on the team's coaching staff as an assistant since 2009 according to the school.

It's clear that the team is happy to have Odom as the new captain of the ship.
