Photos Capture Man's 'Unbelievable' Reunion With Long-Lost Dog

The Shih Tzu was stolen from his owner two years ago.

Two years ago, Jason Brandon’s Shih Tzu disappeared without a trace.

Brandon, who lived in Miami at the time, said little Polo was stolen. He never thought he’d see his beloved dog again, but incredibly, on the day before Thanksgiving, the unexpected happened: Polo was found -- in Washington D.C.

According to a Facebook post by the D.C.-based Washington Humane Society, Polo was discovered on Nov. 25 in a “locked crate next to a dumpster." The dog showed signs of severe neglect, the organization wrote. “His hair was matted and his toe nails were so long that they had curled under his feet and impeded his ability to walk.”

Thankfully, Polo had been microchipped before his disappearance. This led the animal welfare group to Brandon, who now lives in New York City.

“This is just unbelievable,” Brandon, who recently drove to D.C. to collect his long-lost pooch, was quoted as saying. “It's something you see on CNN!”

Photographs of their sweet reunion said it all:

As the Washington Humane Society noted, the reunion between man and dog “would not have been possible if Jason had not microchipped his furry friend.” Learn more about microchipping your pet at Petfinder.com.
