On Friday, Page Six reported that Bradley Cooper was set to make his directorial debut with a remake of "A Star Is Born" featuring Beyoncé Knowles as his leading lady. Rumors of the singer's casting have swirled since 2011, when Clint Eastwood was attached to direct, but she has neither confirmed or denied her involvement in the project.

The superstar's last starring role was in the 2009 thriller "Obsessed" ("You think you're crazy? I'll show you crazy. Just try me, b**ch."), so news of her return to the silver screen traveled like wildfire.

Unfortunately, everybody got excited over nothing because Bey has no connection to the film at this point in time. Cooper shot down the story on Sunday night at the premiere of his new dramedy, "Joy."

The actor told E! News that the collaboration was "just a rumor." He also revealed that he hasn't even spoken with the Beyoncé about the possibility of a remake.

"But with that said," he continued. "I would be honored obviously to work with her in any capacity."

There's still hope, Beyhive!

"A Star Is Born" has seen three onscreen iterations -- in 1937 with Janet Gaynor, 1954 with Judy Garland and lastly 1976 with Barbra Streisand. If Beyoncé did decide to join, she'd be in good company.
