Suspected burglar Alexander Weigard says he had a good reason for rummaging around the manager's office at a Florida Walmart Sunday at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. He wanted a job as a "mystery shopper."

Delray Beach police say the 20-year-old put on a hoodie and sweatsuit over his street clothes after entering the store. He walked into the office and stuffed a garbage bag with an XBox One and other merchandise totaling $462.86, according to GeorgiaNewsDay.com.

Authorities say Weigard was in possession of a loaded handgun, a small bag of heroin, and a Mentos container with 33 Xanax pills and other drugs, the HeraldDemocrat.com reports.

Weigard, however, maintains that he entered the manager's office to apply for the mystery shopper gig because "it seemed like a cool job," according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel.

A “mystery shopper” is a person hired by a manufacturer or retailer to pose as a customer in order to evaluate the quality of service.

Weigard explained to cops that he pulled on the hoodie and sweatpants because his own clothes were dirty. The pills were for foot pain. And the gun he got from a guy at Dunkin' Donuts, according to a police report cited by the paper.

The suspect faces charges of burglary, grand theft, carrying a concealed weapon, and drug possession. He remains at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of a $32,000 bond.

The police report did not mention whether Weigard ever turned in a job application.
