The news that Twitter plans to enable users to tweet 10,000-character messages is evoking strong reactions from loyal tweeps.
The San Francisco-based social media company is aiming to roll out the new feature, reportedly known internally as “Beyond 140,” at the end of the first quarter of this year, the tech news site Re/code reported Tuesday. A version currently being tested would preserve the current 140-character limit for tweets but allow users to indicate that there is a longer message people can see if they click on the tweet.
That the traditional 140-character format is likely to persevere in some form, however, was little consolation to many users who tweeted their mockery of the announcement.
Here are some of the cleverest takes on the reported change:

If Twitter moves to 10,000 characters, email must move to 140 characters. It's only fair.

Dear @jack. Imagine what @realDonaldTrump will do with 10,000 characters.

'It's just too long!' she gasped, 'I can't take it all in!' 'I know,' he sighed, '10,000 characters does seem a bit excessive.' #Twitter10k

It's like 10,000 characters when all you need is a link.
