Watch Some Poor Guy's Epic Struggle To Take Out The Trash On An Icy Day

Winter turns taking out the garbage into trench warfare.

Winter is great... when you get to gaze out at a freshly frozen landscape from the comforts of your toasty room, preferably with a mug of hot chocolate in your hand.

When it comes to actually having to go out and get stuff done, however, winter can be a real pain in the you-know-where. Even taking out the trash can be a problem, as this guy in the Netherlands recently discovered.

In a clip posted online on Thursday, watch as the man attempts -- with poor results -- to walk to the trash can upon some solidly-frozen ground:

A second attempt at walking also went nowhere:

So he gets down on his hands and knees, because taking out the garbage in winter is practically trench warfare.

But that doesn't quite work either:

Eventually, persistence pays off. But really, it shouldn't be this hard to take out the trash.

The Netherlands is currently struggling through some of the worst of the season after a winter storm covered much of the country in ice. Roads have been turned into skating rinks and drivers have been told to stay home.
