A weigh-in for a boxing match turned deadly Friday when gunmen dressed in police-style uniforms shot up the place, the BBC reported.

One man was killed and two other men were injured in the attack, which happened at the Regency Hotel in Dublin, Ireland.

The weigh-in was being staged for a show featuring Jamie Kavanagh and Antonio Joao Bento in a WBO European lightweight showdown. Saturday's event at Dublin's National Stadium has been canceled, the BBC noted.

The Guardian reported that the attack was possibly linked to organized crime.

According to Sky News, three gunmen stormed the event around 2:30 p.m. and opened fire with AK-47s, causing one boxer just off the scale to flee along with panicked press and spectators, including children. The Irish Independent reported that one of the attackers was dressed like a woman.
