Actor Billy Zane Knows You're Still Mad At Him For His Role In 'Titanic'

Fans often approach the actor telling him, "You're the asshole from 'Titanic!'"

Billy Zane -- you know, the actor behind insufferable snob Calvin Hockley in "Titanic" -- is well aware you haven't forgiven him for being an "asshole" in the classic 1997 film.

In a conversation with HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani earlier this week about his new series "Mad Dogs," Zane said he has a nice balance of fans who tell him he's a "cool dude" and those who instruct him to "put a cork in it."

"As long as the ratio is pretty equal, I'm pretty happy," Zane said. "It's refreshing as opposed to being told ... 'You're the asshole from "Titanic."' That one I get a lot, which is really nice. Nice to meet people that way."

Regardless of any upset fans, the "Zoolander 2" actor said he's "honored" and "flattered" to have been part of a film as memorable as "Titanic." He recalled how people of all ages in countries all over the world first applauded him for the historic film.

"We knew we had something fun ... but we had no idea that it was going to strike such a chord," Zane said. "We knew we were making a good film, but we didn't know we were being buoyed by the zeitgeist ... and tapping into a vein of the moment that I think really required catharsis, for whatever reason."
