Someone's in trouble tonight.

Beauty site Total Beauty mistakenly identified Whoopi Goldberg as Oprah in a mortifying Twitter gaffe during the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night.

The tweet, captured below by Marc Love before it was deleted, had over 2,000 retweets and 1,000 favorites.

The Twittersphere quickly made the most of the embarrassing mix-up:

Total Beauty stopped tweeting for some time after the mix-up, presumably to brainstorm the right apology:

The news got back to Oprah and her BFF Gayle King a few hours later. The two commented on the incident on Instagram:

Whoopi Goldberg commented on the mix-up on "The View" on Monday, saying it "could have been a lot worse."

"I heard about it this morning," Goldberg said. "You know, they could have used an orangutan and said: 'Boy, that orangutan looks good.' ... I feel pretty good if you're comparing me to Oprah, saying I look like Oprah, that's not a bad thing."

The host added that "People make mistakes all the time. We do it on ["The View"] … it was an honest mistake. We both look good, Oprah and I!"

SMDH.
