4 Students Wounded In Shooting At Ohio High School

All students are now safe and a suspect is in custody, the district said on Facebook.

Two students were shot and two additional students were injured Monday during a shooting at a high school in Madison Township, Ohio. A suspect is in custody and all other students are safe, according to the school district's Facebook page.

Madison Local School District confirmed the incident on Facebook, saying that none of the students sustained life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred at Madison Jr/Sr High School, according to multiple local media reports. The district website says it is located in Butler County, Ohio, west of the city of Middletown.

In a Monday afternoon press conference, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones identified the shooter as a 14-year-old student and said he had been charged with counts of attempted murder, felonious assault, inducing panic and making terrorist threats. He is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility.

Jones added that investigators are still working on determining where the teen obtained the firearm used in the shooting and whether the students shot were targeted or random.

The district said Monday afternoon that students at Madison Jr/Sr High School had been dismissed. Students at Madison Elementary School will be dismissed approximately one hour early by bus.
