Donald Trump Says Tom Brady Helped Him Win Massachusetts Primary

Because of course he did.

On Super Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump won seven states, including a blowout win in the Massachusetts primary, where he pulled in almost 50 percent of the vote.

And on Wednesday night, he attributed his victory in the Bay State to his friendship with none other than New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

“Honestly, in that part of the world, a reference like Tom Brady saying 'Trump’s the biggest winner, Trump is a friend of mine,' that makes an incredible difference,” Trump said to The New York Times on Wednesday. “Tom Brady is a great friend of mine. He’s a winner and he likes winners. He was very helpful to us in Massachusetts on Tuesday.”

Brady first said "it'd be great" if Trump won the presidency back in September, after the "Make America Great Again" hat, which has become synonymous with the candidate's campaign, was spotted inside his locker.

The quarterback backtracked a bit from his comments days after, saying he hasn't followed politics in a long time and was just showing support for his friend. But Patriots owner Robert Kraft has reiterated Brady's sentiment, telling the Boston Globe that he did not want to discuss politics but felt "very comfortable talking about [his] friendships with people who happen to be in politics."

It appears the owner and the quarterback are standing by Trump. And according to the GOP front-runner, he benefited from their noncommittal semi- support.
