Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke lost his temper while trying to defend his views during an interview with conservative TV host Steve Malzberg on Wednesday.

Malzberg intended to question Duke about his support for Republican front-runner Donald Trump, after Duke told his radio listeners earlier this week that voting for the business mogul "is the best thing we can do” to prevent the spread of “mass immigration” and the conspiracy of "international bankers,” a term white supremacists use to refer to Jewish people.

Instead, the interview started off with a round of back-and-forth in which Duke tried to defend his past.

"I was in the Klan for three years, a non-violent Klan organization, I left the Klan, I tried to turn it into a political thing. I've always condemned supremacism, I've always condemned violence," he said.

"I don't consider myself against blacks or Mexicans or anybody else," he added, though he said he believes European Americans are the ones being discriminated against in America. "It will destroy America if European Americans become a tiny minority in this country, and that's where we're headed," he said.

Duke and Malzberg proceeded to yell at each other, as Malzberg attempted to move to the subject of Trump while Duke wanted to continue with his line of argument.

"The Klan is irrelevant, I'm not in the Klan," he shouted. He also derided Democratic politicians like President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for supporting Robert Byrd, a Democratic former senator from West Virginia who also once belonged to the KKK.

Duke finally addressed his Trump support.

"Right after [my radio show] came out it was massive news for three days, [Trump] jumped 10 points in the polls," he said.

Duke clarified that he has never met or spoken to Trump before.

"I think people should vote for him," he added. "I think he's a challenge to the establishment, he's the only guy who's really stood apart on the immigration issue."

Trump won won seven states and amassed more than 300 delegates in the Super Tuesday contests.

Editor's note: Donald Trump is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist, birther and bully who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims -- 1.6 billion members of an entire religion -- from entering the U.S.
