Here's What Happens When A Bro Gets Sent To A Gay Rehabilitation Camp

"There are a whole array of gay characters in this film..."

A poignant new film that highlights an important and dangerous issue affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community through the lens of comedy is currently in production.

The premise of "RainBRO" involves a high school bully who is accidentally sent to a gay rehabilitation summer camp. He must find a way to escape before his "bad boy" reputation is tarnished, but before he can, he meets a group of queer characters that change his perspective and challenge his worldview.

"Being cognizant of how gay people are often portrayed in the media, we as filmmakers felt it was time to redefine the stereotypes," filmmakers Ryan J. Kaplan and Rachel Werth told The Huffington Post. "There are a whole array of gay characters in this film and we make a concerted effort to show varying aspects of the gay experience. One particular stereotype that was very important for us to tackle, was the so-called “sissy” character. It was important to us to re-appropriate that type of character and give him power and respect. We want to put an end to the notion that feminine qualities in a boy are a negative trait. Through meeting these characters, our protagonist eventually learns that sexuality is only a small aspect of who you are and that it doesn't define you."
