The '90s are so in right now, and that goes for the murder cases that dominated the headlines of the decade, as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is in the late stages of negotiations for an unscripted true crime anthology series, and the first season will focus on the JonBenét Ramsey murder case.

The 1996 murder of the 6-year-old beauty queen, which still remains unsolved, captivated the country. Ramsey's body was found in her parents' basement on Christmas day, eight hours after she was reported missing.

According to THR, the series will reunite the original case investigators, as well as new experts, who will re-examine the case. The show could premiere as early as this fall to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the unsolved case.

News of the show comes after true crime TV successes "The Jinx," "Making a Murderer" and FX's scripted "American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson," and a day after NBC greenlighted "Law & Order: True Crime." That scripted anthology series that will start off following the case of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were famously convicted for the 1989 murder of their parents.
