Girls And Boys Outraged By Wage Gap For Chores, Give Us Hope For Future

“It should be flat out illegal.”

One video proves that gender wage gaps are so intuitively wrong that even kids can see it’s straight up baloney.

In the video, which was released by banking company ANZ, boys and girls are shown performing the same household chores. Afterward, the boys get paid more than the girls -- a reality that most women all over the world have to endure.

The way the girls react? It’s pretty much all women:

On average, women in the U.S. make 79 cents for every dollar a man makes -- and that gap hasn’t closed much since 2000. The date of Equal Pay Day -- April 12 -- is meant to symbolize how far into the year women have to work to make what men earned in the previous year.

USA Today points out that the metaphorical date doesn’t even pertain to all women. For Latina women, “Equal Pay Day” isn’t until Nov. 1, while African American women don’t earn as much as their male counterparts until Aug. 23. and Native American women have to work until Sept. 13.

"For moms, Equal Pay Day is June 4," Lisa Maatz, vice president of government relations at the American Association of University Women told USA Today. "There absolutely is a motherhood penalty when it comes to the pay gap."

So, what can be done to ensure that both genders get equal pay for equal work?

One girl in the video has an idea:

Some men, however, may not want to speak up. But hopefully, with time that will change:

We just hope we don’t have to wait until this youngster is an adult for that to happen.
