Clever Dude Celebrates Pothole's Birthday, Gets City To Fix It

Well that's one way to get people to listen.

This is one birthday card that's a hole lot different from any you've ever seen.

After dealing with a giant pothole in the middle of the road for more than a year, Jackson, Mississippi, resident Eddie Prosser decided to have some fun with it by commemorating its time there. Prosser decorated a sign with some hilarious well-wishes and displayed it for all to see, The Clarion-Ledger reported.

"Happy Birthday Pothole," the silly sign reads. "I have been here over a year! My 2 little brother potholes, too!"

Just a day after the "card" was shared on social media, the city had filled it in temporarily, the Clarion-Ledger reported.

Prosser had called the city's 311 Action Line several times in hopes of getting the problem fixed, WJTV reported. Failing to see results, Prosser switched things up.

"After 14 calls to 311, I thought it was time to do something different.”

So the clever resident decorated a barricade in the middle of the pothole with festive balloons and his funny message.

"I do find our problems in the city of Jackson serious but at the same time [it's] just one small pothole," Prosser told WJTV, expressing his frustration. "When they fix the potholes just a block away it wouldn’t of taken another 10 minutes [to fix].”

It seems as though the city's taking the issue seriously. On Tuesday, Mayor Tony Yarber announced a "pothole blitz" in which road issues will be addressed.

"We want to address the critical road issues our citizens face on a daily basis. The "Pothole Blitz" will help in this effort. We are excited to be at a point where residents can see their tax dollars at work," Yarber said, according to a press release.

So that, folks, is how you enact change.
