Former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) -- infamous for not one, but two sexting scandals from his time in Congress and his run for mayor of New York City -- said he'd rather redeem himself as a father than a politician.
On WNYC Studios’ podcast “Here’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin,” Weiner told the actor that his current focus is on raising his 4-year-old son, Jordan, while his wife, Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, is on the road with the Democratic presidential hopeful.
"Being a dad, that’s my job," Weiner said.
Weiner wondered why his success is only measured in the political arena.
"Why does my redemption as a politician, as a public figure, have to be as a public person and a politician? Why can’t it be just doing this other important element of my life really well?" Weiner said. "Like, no one may see me being a dad and it might not be something you can measure, like I got these number of votes, or this many number of people who wrote me a positive letters, or this many number of times I was on [MSNBC's] 'Hardball' or something, but I know I’m really good at it and I’m doing it every day."

During an appearance on HuffPost's "Candidate Confessional" podcast in April, Weiner said he’d rather eat the round wooden table in front of him “than go back to D.C.," arguing the "jobs are just not that good" and questioning if he'd be able to have success after his past scandals.
"I also don’t think you get a third bite at the apple. I think people will willingly let you take a second bite and try again. But I don’t know if a third really happens," he said.
