YouTubers Come Together To Celebrate Their Queerness And Pride

"These YouTubers -- and their audiences -- have built a virtual community for celebrating who we are."

In celebration of Pride month, YouTuber Davey Wavey brought together a group of popular queer YouTubers to talk about why they love being out and proud.

Organized by Wavey, the feel-good moment of celebration features YouTubers like Nicholas Laws and Arielle Scarcella and touches not just on identity but also on the ability to talk about it openly through platforms like YouTube.

"Our queerness makes us different. It makes us stick out. And when you're young, being different doesn't always feel good," Wavey told The Huffington Post. "As a young gay boy, I remember hating my gayness; I wanted to fit in and be like everyone else. As I've gotten older, I've come to realize that being queer is a tremendous gift that has filled my life with incredible experience, wonderful people and a journey of self exploration and discovery that I'd never have otherwise. So, in honor of Pride month, I asked other YouTubers what it is that they love about being queer. With nearly five million [collective] subscribers, these YouTubers -- and their audiences -- have built a virtual community for celebrating who we are. It's so powerful, and something we're all grateful to be a part of."
