Lin-Manuel Miranda Takes Bow As Hamilton One Last Time

"Hamilton" originals Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo also said goodbye to the hit Broadway show Saturday.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has officially said adios and farewell to “Hamilton.”

Miranda took the stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre as the title character of the hit Broadway musical one last time Saturday. The show was also the last for Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Tony nominee Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), and ensemble member Ariana DeBose.

Miranda made a final bow with his hand over his heart before being joined by the rest of the cast. After basking in a long and well-deserved standing ovation, a majority of the cast fell back, leaving Miranda and his fellow departing cast members a moment to say goodbye. As the crowd continued to roar, the orchestra broke into the theme song from “The West Wing” ― a personal favorite of Miranda’s, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Their emotional final curtain call was live-streamed on the musical’s Facebook page.

In addition to parting with his role as Hamilton, Miranda also said farewell to the long ponytail he’d grown for the role. He posted a photo of his newly shorn locks on Twitter soon after taking his final bow, captioned with a lyric from the “Hamilton” song ”One Last Time.”

Throughout much of Saturday and into Sunday, “Hamilton” cast and crew members shared bittersweet tweets about Miranda, Soo and Odom’s final performance on Twitter.

Several cast members also celebrated the night by taking shots out of their Grammy awards.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Jennifer Lopez, Spike Lee, Jane Fonda, Rosie O’Donnell, Charlie Rose and Mariska Hargitay were among those in attendance at Miranda’s final show.

After taking his final bow, Miranda waved from a theater balcony to fans waiting outside the building in the pouring rain, and later thanked them from a theater window.

Despite the “Hamilton” OGs’ departures, the hit show will go on! Miranda’s longtime alternate Javier Muñoz will be replacing him in the title role starting Monday. Lexi Lawson will also replace Soo as Eliza Schuyler Hamilton beginning Monday, and Brandon Victor Dixon will play Aaron Burr starting mid-August.

Up next for “Hamilton” and its departing stars: The 11-time Tony-winning drama will begin its touring production in Chicago this fall. As for Miranda, he will co-star in the “Mary Poppins” sequel “Mary Poppins Returns” alongside Emily Blunt, and has been contributing music to the Disney animated movie “Moana.” Soo is moving on to an upcoming musical adaptation of the film “Amélie,” and Odom will focus on his music career.
