“People don’t see it and know it, but I feel it in my spirit: a level of meekness about Oprah Winfrey,” Iyanla says. “You don’t see it because you see her big, strong television personality, but there’s a level of humility and meekness in her.”

Oprah as a whole, Iyanla continues, is like the popular Bible verse from 1 Corinthians come to life: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

“She is the personification of love,” Iyanla says. “I am blessed to be able to call her, Ms. O, my sister-woman-friend.”
