Down In The Polls, Trump Vows Not To Change Because He's Been 'Winning'

Pay no attention to the polling data. Winning is an attitude. A temperament, if you will.

And Donald Trump ― at least, according to Donald Trump ― has “one of the great temperaments ... a winning temperament.”

That mentality at least partially explains the Republican presidential nominee’s comments to Maria Bartiromo in an interview on Fox Business Tuesday morning, when ― apparently citing internal polling data ― he said his campaign has been “winning” and pledged not to change anything.

“We have some good — we actually [have] some very good polling information,” Trump told Bartiromo, in response to a question about how he might alter his tactics to erase a sizable polling deficit.

“I certainly don’t think it is appropriate to start changing all of a sudden when you have been winning,” he continued. “I mean, I’ve beat many people and now we are down to one, and we will see how it works out but I think it is going to work out well.”

Post-convention data shows Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a double-digit lead in a number of national polls, as Trump committed a series of gaffes last week, then doubled down on some of them. HuffPost Pollster, which aggregates publicly available polling data, shows Clinton leading by more than 8.5 percentage points.
