The Huffington Post got a sneak peek at the Aug. 15 installment of MTV’s acclaimed “ True Life” series, which focuses on how the survivors of the June 12 mass shooting in Orlando, Florida are readjusting to life after the tragedy.

In the clip above, several of the “True Life: We Are Orlando” subjects offer emotional pleas for gun reform as they look back on the attack that left 49 people dead and dozens more injured.

“When someone’s under investigation and they buy an assault rifle, would you not want to go to their house and ask some questions and see some property? I don’t know,” one survivor notes. “If someone is dangerous and you know that they’re dangerous, why are you just going to wait until they do something ― or something else?”

Michael Klein, MTV’s Executive Vice President of Original Content, told HuffPost that the network felt that it was important to dedicate an episode to the attack because audiences are wondering “what more can be done to support Orlando and end violence.”

“The stories of survival and heroism told in this episode are emotional, but also serve as gripping reminders of the resiliency of the human spirit,” Klein said. “MTV’s commitment to stand in solidarity with Orlando extends beyond this hour-long special to a digital companion series and various pathways to take action and support Orlando.”

Meanwhile, the network is asking viewers to support a petition launched by Orlando resident Adam Harnett. Harnett, who is openly gay, is calling on Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Florida representatives Patrick Murphy and Alan Grayson to enact stricter gun regulation.

“True Life: We Are Orlando” airs Monday, Aug. 15, at 8 p.m. on MTV. For more information on the show, head here. Check out the official trailer below.
