The United States of America is one stunning country, and Conde Nast Traveler took it upon themselves to do something fairly difficult: rank its most beautiful towns.

Aside from looking simply stunning, the secret ingredient to their allure might just be the other thing they have in common: a lack of people.

The most populated town on Conde Nast Traveler’s list (Santa Barbara, California) tops out at 88,410, according to the most recent U.S. Census population estimate.
