Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and longtime girlfriend and R&B artist Cassie Ventura have reportedly split after a heated argument that prompted Ventura’s mother to call the police to her daughter’s Los Angeles home, TMZ reports.

According to the gossip site, the fight began on Wednesday. Combs reacted poorly when Ventura told him their relationship was over as the couple drove through Beverly Hills.

The rapper reportedly swiped Ventura’s phone angrily and exited the vehicle to read her messages, hoping to learn her reasoning for the split, and Cassie left with the driver.

Later that day, after Combs had returned home and relinquished the phone, Cassie’s mother called the police to intervene regarding an argument over the missing cell phone. The cops arrived at Cassie’s home but left soon after, when they understood that the property had been returned to its owner.

TMZ notes that police wrote up a domestic incident report. However, they pursued nothing further, as no crimes had been committed.

The pair, who have been linked since Cassie’s debut in 2006, reportedly have an on-and-off relationship, but only time will tell if this “off” period sticks.

We can’t help but wonder whether the recent altercation has anything to do with a photo Combs posted to Instagram last month in which he apologizes for acting like an “asshole.”

Actions speak louder than words, Diddy.
