Scott Eastwood Opens Up About Losing Girlfriend In Deadly Car Accident

Scott Eastwood got candid about losing someone he loved in a new interview for GQ Australia’s September/October issue. A question regarding the last time the “Suicide Squad” actor cried prompted the 30-year-old to open up about the traumatic experience.

“The fucked up thing is, it was a fender bender, and there was a recall on airbags. Her airbag exploded. It shot a projectile through her body,” Eastwood said, describing a car accident that happened to someone he “dated a couple of years ago.” “It split her spine, and um ... I’ve never told anybody that.”

The actor continued, saying, “I’ve lost friends before; I’ve lost some great friends. But, I had never lost someone I had been really intimate with, you know, like in that way, in a relationship. I think that really affected me in a way that ... I don’t know. Maybe it’s made it harder for me to date.”

The incident clearly still affects the actor, as he admitted he still has one last thing to do.

“I still never called her father. I still haven’t found the right words,” he said.

The actor also spoke about his own father, Clint Eastwood, and what it was like growing up with his tough-as-nails father. Scott recounted the time his dad punched him for leaving his 14-year-old sister behind at a party, when Scott himself was only 16.

“He popped me and said, ‘You don’t ever leave your sister at a party. EVER.’ And it was very old-school, very old-school of him,” the actor said. “He wasn’t afraid. None of this new-age bullshit where you can’t even smack the kid because everyone’s afraid of being judged or whatever.”
