STEM Student Calculates Angle Of Her Dab As Only A Math Lover Would

The answer to "When are we ever going to need math in life?"

This is radical to the umpteenth degree.

Anicca Harriot, a 20-year-old biophysical sciences student, calculated the angle of her dab in a photo she took with a friend. Because that’s just what STEM aficionados do.

The senior, who attends Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, shared her calculations on Twitter earlier this month. Unsurprisingly, the post, which revealed she dabbed at a 31.70 degree angle, went viral as people recognized Harriot as the perfect sum of brainy and cool.

The 20-year-old explained that she took the photo during a walk in between classes. Later on when she checked out the photo, math naturally came to her mind.

“Honestly, the first thing I thought was just ‘I wonder what the angle of this is?’” Harriot recalled to New York Magazine.

The tweet might’ve been a fun one, but Harriot hopes to have a larger impact on social media.

“I want to use social media to reach out to young people about STEM, because I don’t think many young people realize how diverse STEM truly is… and how many young people are heavy involved in it,” she told student publication The Daily Runner.
