This haunting short film depicts a young woman’s struggle to find a balance between her own identity and her mother’s expectations.

Directed by Joyene Nazatul Ismail, “To Mum (Love, Me)” was released in Asia last year and has since made the queer festival circuit in the U.S. The film is set against the backdrop of Singapore, a nation with conservative values where same-sex marriage remains illegal and LGBT people enjoy limited rights.
