What do you get when you put pom-poms in the hands of 20 Japanese cheerleaders whose average age is 70? Apparently, the answer is a Twitter Moment ― the social media site’s “best of what’s happening” feature.

And what did 84-year-old Fumie Takino and her troupe of senior cheerleaders do to deserve such an honor? Absolutely nothing that we can determine, except be profiled in a story by the AFP. We don’t care; we love these ladies who are spitting in the eye of aging.

Takino founded the “Japan Pom-Pom” squad after being bitten by the cheerleading bug two decades ago.

“You have to be 55 or older,” Takino told AFP, referring to the qualification for joining her team, the average age of which is 70. She says her hobby has helped her stay in shape physically and mentally. Certainly gets our vote for Twitter Moment of the Day.
